Where we serve
Mental health care on Kauai.
Lihue, Kapaa, Waimea, and the North Shore. On Kauai, the standard answer to needing more care has been a flight to Honolulu — repeatedly, on your own time and your own money.
Getting care on Kauai today.
The Hawaiʻi Physician Workforce Report identified shortages above seventy percent for some mental health services on Kauai, alongside Maui and Hawaii Island. For a specialty need, the referral often points at Oahu.
Kauai families know what that costs, because they run the arithmetic for every kind of specialty care. A flight each way, a ride at both ends, a workday gone, and a hotel if the weather turns — for one appointment. Travel benefits exist on some plans and anyone who has used one can tell you how far the reimbursement goes against a real fare. For a weekly commitment it is punishing. For a program that meets four times a week it is simply not possible, which is why nobody on Kauai has been offered this level of care as a realistic option.
What changes
What we bring to Kauai.
An intensive program that never requires you to leave the island — the specific barrier that has kept this level of care theoretical here.
- Zero flights, zero airport rides, zero hotel nights
- Four evenings a week from Lihue, Kapaa, Kekaha, or Hanalei
- The same licensed Hawaii clinicians serving every island
- Twelve weeks with a written aftercare plan, not a referral off-island
Privacy on a small island.
On an island this size, anonymity is thin. Your neighbor is behind you at the pharmacy and someone’s cousin works at the front desk. Wanting privacy about your mental health care here is not avoidance — it is an accurate reading of your own community.
Care by video means there is no parking lot, no waiting room, and no chance encounters. Your group is drawn from across the islands rather than from your town, which for a lot of people on Kauai is the difference between getting treated and putting it off another year.
What we treat, Kauai included
The program treats anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, and substance use — in separate mental health and substance use tracks, with a co-occurring path for people carrying both.
Coverage and cost on Kauai
Coverage depends on your plan, not your address, and there is no travel cost to absorb here. We verify your benefits with the payer and tell you your expected out-of-pocket cost before you commit to anything.
How it works
How to start.
01
Reach out
Call or fill out our online form. You talk to a real member of our team, not a bot. We’ll ask what’s been going on and what you’ve already tried.
02
Clinical assessment
Within a few days, a licensed clinician walks you through a full assessment by video, to determine whether we’re a fit for you.
03
Insurance and cost
We verify your benefits and tell you what you will actually owe before you commit to anything. No surprise balance later.
04
Start your group
You are placed in a cohort and meet your clinician before the first session, so you walk into a room where someone already knows your name.
Questions
Straight answers.
Will someone I know be in my group?
Groups are formed across all of the islands, not by town, so the odds are low — and if you recognize someone, tell your clinician and we will move you. Nobody should have to choose between treatment and privacy in a community this small.
Would I still need to fly to Oahu for any part of this?
No part of our program requires travel. If your care ends up needing something we do not provide in person — a specialist, a higher level of care — we will tell you that plainly and help you arrange it, rather than keeping you enrolled in the wrong thing.
Is there enough bandwidth on the West Side or the North Shore for this?
Usually, and where it is genuinely marginal we plan around it — raise it at intake. Connectivity is a practical problem with practical answers, and it is a much smaller one than a monthly flight.
No boarding pass required.
The care that used to mean a flight to Honolulu now runs from your own house, four evenings a week.
